WHAT'S NEW (AND OLD)

 AT THE TATE GEOLOGICAL MUSEUM?

J.P. Cavigelli is a museum collection specialist at the Tate Geological Museum in Casper, Wyoming. J.P.  will tell us about the museum, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and will describe recent discoveries. New fossils include Dee the Mammoth, Lee Rex, and Nicole, a 65 million-year-old Torosaurus, along with scores of less charismatic, but otherwise interesting, critters that do not have cute names.

J.P. and the team from the Tate are featured on a television show, “Prehistoric Road Trip”, which premiered on PBS on June 17th, 2020.

The TV crew filmed the Tate Museum fossil crew while they were working at the famous dinosaur quarries at Como Bluff, WY, and also in the lab.

The TV show includes shots of a Diplodocus that the Tate crew was excavating along with other dinosaur fossils.

J.P. is featured in the first two episodes of “Prehistoric Road Trip.”

If you would like to view the show, it is available for free viewing until July 15th.  Here is the link: https://www.pbs.org/show/prehistoric-road-trip/#

J.P. will speak to us via Zoom, and you will receive an invitation about July 7th. Non-members can request a password for the meeting by sending an email to: ffdboard@gmail.com.  Guests are welcome.
